About the Position

FGV EMAp is hiring one open-rank professor (Assistant, Associate, or Full) in the area of Data Science. This position is aimed at strengthening and complementing the school’s research activities.

Looking for:

• Established researchers (Associate/Full Professor)
• Outstanding young researchers (Assistant Professor)

Preferred expertise in:

• Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Computer Vision
• Reinforcement Learning
• Network Science
• Data Mining

Other areas of Data Science will also be considered.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct high-impact research and publish in top-tier venues
• Secure and maintain external funding
• Supervise postgraduate research students
• Teach two courses per year (one undergraduate, one graduate)
• Engage with the academic and professional community
• Collaborate with industry partners

Note: Portuguese fluency is desirable but not required initially. By the second year, teaching in Portuguese may be expected.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field

Strong publication record (appropriate to rank)

Proven experience in securing external funding (for higher ranks)

Experience supervising graduate students (for associate/full professor level)

Excellent communication and teaching skills
