About the Position
FGV EMAp is hiring one open-rank professor (Assistant, Associate, or Full) in the area of Data Science. This position is aimed at strengthening and complementing the school’s research activities.
Looking for:
- Established researchers (Associate/Full Professor)
- Outstanding young researchers (Assistant Professor)
Preferred expertise in:
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Computer Vision
- Reinforcement Learning
- Network Science
- Data Mining
Other areas of Data Science will also be considered.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct high-impact research and publish in top-tier venues
- Secure and maintain external funding
- Supervise postgraduate research students
- Teach two courses per year (one undergraduate, one graduate)
- Engage with the academic and professional community
- Collaborate with industry partners
Note: Portuguese fluency is desirable but not required initially. By the second year, teaching in Portuguese may be expected.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field
Strong publication record (appropriate to rank)
Proven experience in securing external funding (for higher ranks)
Experience supervising graduate students (for associate/full professor level)
Excellent communication and teaching skills
